Curiosity in Action

John Amagoalik

I got very curious at a very early age. I remember living in an iglu. My parents used to plaster the walls of the iglu with old newspapers and magazines for insulation and to keep the snow from dripping. I saw all these wonderful pictures from the magazines and saw images from other parts of the world, and that is how I got curious. … From early childhood I got addicted to reading, and I have been reading all my life
In Chapter Four, John talks about his passion for reading, his brimming curiosity and his desire to know about the world. He tells of how he learned to read. He speaks about the radio and television shows of his youth, and of his fervour for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
